Do you ever plan on fixing the wiki?

It's been a while now and nothing has been fixed, how long will this be?

--Tankman fan 44 (talk) 04:13, 1 July 2022 (CEST)

Honestly, I don't ever have the time due to working 40+ hours a week. I do still fix or patch minor stuff and as I'm not sure I know of every bug on the wiki, I may make a JIRA. Lawiki1534 (talk) 03:10, 2 July 2022 (CEST)
completely understandable. The only bugs I have noticed are that I can't see the add to watchlist button and the hover previews dont work. There might be more but for now that's all I've managed to spot.

Delete this account

Please delete my old account and ill make myself a new one; and it will be named User:Nouxia. --SkyBlueCat (talk) 09:37, 7 July 2022 (CEST)

And also can i have a permission to edit articles? --Nouxia (talk) 09:48, 7 July 2022 (CEST)
You can't delete accounts on MediaWiki, but I did courtesy vanish you. Lawiki1534 (talk) 04:11, 8 July 2022 (CEST)

Why

Why did you delete my page I spend along time working on it

I didn't think it counted as a shock site. Lawiki1534 (talk) 03:57, 29 July 2022 (CEST)

I'm thinking of removing the featured poll

I see we have ran out of poll ideas and nobody cares about the polls anymore. I'm considering maybe replacing it with "Featured Media", that is, a video, image, or maybe even a news article related to content on this site. Thoughts? --Pmb1226 (talk) 23:29, 15 August 2022 (CEST)

Possibly, but polls do help engagement. Lawiki1534 (talk) 00:17, 16 August 2022 (CEST)

IP banning

What's with the ip bans? They only last for one day before it becomes available again? --Pmb1226 (talk)

That's the MediaWiki autoblock default. If you need to ban for longer, just CheckUser them and ban their ip separately. Angeleno (talk) 13:05, 18 August 2022 (PDT)

hazomo is a gigantic prick

recently this morning one of the screamer wiki discord members (pickadeli) came out saying that was being manipulated by fergi one of the members asked hazomo to ban fergi hazomo kept making fun of this situation and he did not take it seriously he ended up banning me, qx1. pickadeli and one more who i don't remember his name he also purged the main chat to get rid of the evidence unban us and ban this selfish motherfucker

Hazomo's been banned, you (and everyone else) has been unbanned. Angeleno (talk) 03:48, 10 September 2022 (MST)

Quick question

What does the japanese text on this logo say? --Pmb1226 (talk)

"Screamer Wiki" Angeleno (talk) 18:47, 17 October 2022 (MST)

Should visual editor be disabled?

It messes up the comments on pages and some new editors might not understand.

Tankman fan 44 (talk) 09:10, 4 November 2022 (MST)

Probably not. Angeleno (talk) 12:01, 4 November 2022 (MST)

Early revisions

How could Template:Bigcat be imported in 2011? Mediawiki glitch? --Pmb1226 (talk)

I think it's because the template was imported from wikipedia, so older edits appear. Angeleno (talk) 00:33, 5 November 2022 (MST)

Favicon request

Because this edited version with the color tint appears in the site logo, I feel it makes sense to have this version instead of the standard one we currently have. What do you think? --Pmb1226 (talk)

I changed it. We'll see how it looks. Angeleno (talk) 18:34, 5 November 2022 (MST)

Share feature

I was reading about ways to increase seo and web traffic and found that adding a share button increases the number of views on a page and overall traffic. There's a mediawiki extension here which allows a page to be easily shared to any social media via the sidebar. It says it's in development but its still worth a try + its very useful.

Also the favicon still remains the same even after it was changed, kinda strange --Pmb1226 (talk)

You can turn the extension off, I added the links somewhere else --Pmb1226 (talk)

External links

This site has many clickable external links to other sites (like wikipedia for example), but when they are clicked they open in the same tab instead of a new one, which lowers average page count and time spent on the site. Should we make it so that when an external link is clicked, it opens in a brand new tab so that screamer.wiki will still be open? --Pmb1226 (talk)

Yes Angeleno (talk) 20:19, 14 November 2022 (MST)
This setting might work if configued, but not sure: https://mediawiki.org/wiki/Snippets/Open_external_links_in_new_window
If it doesn't seem to work right I might make a mediawiki account and just ask there. --Pmb1226 (talk)
It seems to have worked. Angeleno (talk) 16:44, 15 November 2022 (MST)
Great! Just one thing is that the interwiki links (like wikipedia) still seem to open in the same tab, so maybe editing the interwiki page and adding some of the previous code might get it to work. --Pmb1226 (talk)

Goatse404

Do you have the goatse 404 image without the drawn hands? I can try to edit it better. --Pmb1226 (talk)

Here you go. File:404NoGoatse.png Angeleno (talk) 18:14, 23 November 2022 (MST)

Bitchute

What happened to Screamer Wiki's bitchute channel and why was it banned? --Pmb1226 (talk)

It was banned supposedly for harassment. We tried to appeal, but they never responded. Angeleno (talk) 05:36, 11 December 2022 (MST)
Where there videos on the channel? And who did we interact with that they found "harassing". --Pmb1226 (talk)
Yes, however, most of the videos were crossposted to YouTube, Odysee, or the wiki directly. We didn't interact with anyone there, but I guess BitChute viewers didn't like screamers and shock sites on the main page. It was the Screamreuploads channel. Angeleno (talk) 08:14, 11 December 2022 (MST)

Polls

I've noticed that logged out users are not able to vote on the featured poll, thus why results are so low. Can this be fixed? --Pmb1226 (talk)

That was deliberate. There is a bug currently on AJAXPoll (and with comments) where all logged out users, instead of having a unique actor ID, their actor ID gets set to 0 meaning that someone without an account with an IP address of 192.168.0.1 that attempts to vote on a poll that anonymous user 174.33.198.2 voted on, will show to 192.168.0.1 that they already voted, despite never doing so, due to both of their actor IDs being 0.
This was a bug with these extensions since MediaWiki 1.35 if I recall correctly. I attempted to fix it myself or install an older version, but that was not feasible. Angeleno (talk) 21:27, 11 December 2022 (MST)

CommentStream

I found a comment extension which is newer and not buggy/severly vulnerable like the one we currently have: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:CommentStreams Should it be implemented? --Pmb1226 (talk)

It's been tested in the past. The reasons for removing it at the time was due to the extension using your Full Name (if entered) instead of your username. There is no documentation on how to change it. Angeleno (talk) 21:59, 14 December 2022 (MST)
Fixed it. It's still unfortunate that you have to change a line in the code (CommentStreamsFactory.php) to do it. Angeleno (talk) 22:38, 14 December 2022 (MST)

Name change

Can you change my name into "Likeicare"? Special:RenameUser gives me an error. --IT (talk) 07:37, 1 February 2023 (MST)

THat's the thing with the rename tool. You cannot rename yourself with it. Renamed. Angeleno (talk) 08:19, 1 February 2023 (MST)

Logo idea

Is this fitting? https://screamer.wiki/File:Screamer_Logo.png

I don't think so. Not sure what the tophhat means either. Angeleno (talk) 18:13, 11 February 2023 (MST)
How's this?
https://screamer.wiki/File:Screamer_Logo.png --Pmb1226 (talk)
That one's better, for sure. Although the ghost has become an iconic part of the wiki. Angeleno (talk) 11:14, 12 February 2023 (MST)
It is under copyright, and Apple could sue for using it without paying. In case this happens, the new one can be used as a backup. --Pmb1226 (talk)
Correct, as was discussed in the Discord. The ghost would be a newly made vector, and there is already an order that bans new graphics from being made with the emojis. Angeleno (talk) 12:54, 12 February 2023 (MST)

User rights restore

There was a misunderstanding about that memorable Ronnie McNutt quote, i never made fun of it and i will never make ever joke about someone taking his own life unreasonably. All i did was to use his last words as his memorable quote to remember McNutt himself and I never intended to offend anyone of what i have present to them. I finally understand the responsibilities of a bureaucrat does, but i was blind to see it. Sorry for what i have done, I've changed my own ways ever since i discovered who i was in the past. Likeicare (talk) 05:24, 24 March 2023 (MST)

Okay. That's alright. Angeleno (talk) 09:59, 24 March 2023 (MST)
Response to Angeleno: I think he's talking about the change you made in the User rights log, he doesn't have the bureaucrat role anymore. I'm talking about the one that says "fix user rights" --Tankman fan 44 (talk) 18:09, 24 March 2023 (MST)
Bureaucrat revokation had nothing to do with your edits. More to do with bureaucrat being more of a misclick. Angeleno (talk) 19:13, 24 March 2023 (MST)

As I can no longer redirect dead videos to "deleted", they need to put an end to lost videos

Translation: Well that's it, I noticed that since last year, all my redirects to deleted: were redirected to the normal name of the article, even from dead videos on YouTube that never had a web archive, like this video and this one too, among others. I don't want to irritate the Sysops who are just doing their job here, but you also know that these deleted videos are not worth preserving here, if there is no way to recover them. We already have more than 1500 screamers articles, we don't need to have saved articles, which was created in laziness on YouTube and which is deleted forever. But you can preserve deleted video articles that at least have a saved link of your screamer, proving that the video already existed. Dragomaniaco (talk) 05:42, 20 May 2023 (MST)

That action was repealed, as long as the page is of decent quality. Angeleno (talk) 09:49, 20 May 2023 (MST)

Question from Maxie

Is Kaotic and The World Watch considered to be shock sites? NOTE: The following links contain graphic content!

  • Kaotic: https://kaotic.com/
  • The World Watch: https://theworldwatch.com/

--  Teglekh Kolumnist Maxie†✡︎ 11:51, 26 May 2023 (MST)

Nope. They look like just normal gore sites. Angeleno (talk) 12:02, 26 May 2023 (MST)

Rename my username

Just rename my username to "kr0tchet". Simple request. -- - kr0tchet (✍ edit) 09:25, 15 June 2023 (MST)

could this be our special logo if it was November 11 2023?

feel free to crop. I don't know how to crop it, so you can do it yourself. - Carson (talk)

I have something else in mind... --Angeleno (talk) 11:51, 26 June 2023 (MST)

Rollback warning

Is there a way you can add a warning when trying to roll back an edit? I had accidentally rolled back an edit on an article, and I don't want it to happen again. ChillyBeanBAM (talk) 08:14, 2 July 2023 (MST)

Not having a warning is actually pretty intuitive for if a spammer vandalizes hundreds of pages and you quickly want to undo all of them. I'm sure there's a userscript to do such out there somewhere if you do want a warning. Also, you will never get in trouble for accidentally rolling back a page. If it happens again, just undo (or rollback) the rollback. It happens to me sometimes too. Angeleno (talk) 10:51, 2 July 2023 (MST)
I see. Thanks! ChillyBeanBAM (talk) 11:02, 2 July 2023 (MST)

What happened on the recent changes page?

I saw a lot of "username removed" and stuff today that had made me suspicious. What happened? ChillyBeanBAM (talk) 09:29, 8 July 2023 (MST)

Was accidentally banned from the screamer wiki Discord so did some changes that got reverted. Angeleno (talk) 12:26, 8 July 2023 (MST)

Some templates are nearly impossible to read

On skins other than DarkVector, I can barely read the text on several templates, such as the "Deleted" one here:
Can you change it so that they're much easier to read on other skins? ChillyBeanBAM (talk) 09:03, 31 July 2023 (MST)

Requesting to replace my helper and comment administrator with none.

I wasn't supported to be a helper, man. Thanks for giving me a helper and comment administrator, but that makes me uncomfortable because I have no skills to do it, so replace my helper and comment administrator with none. Mousetrap Anti (talk) 21:00, 26 October 2023 (MST)

Planning to leave this wiki forever

I haven't really had the best experience here; it's been more of a waste of time if anything, with me constantly having to fix grammar, spelling, and other problems that keep popping up, which is one of the things that has causing me to lose interest. Plus, there are users who seem to be immature and toxic here. So, I'm considering leaving. Can I be demoted from rollback? ChillyBeanBAM (talk) 09:14, 1 December 2023 (MST)

Vector 2022 skin

About the Vector 2022 skin, there is something wrong when i try to read articles with this skin, which i am currently using. You should make some adjustments with the CSS of this skin to make it display correctly. Thanks. --00:18, 10 December 2023 (MST)SkyTheWanderer (talk)

ok that's interesting how it kind of letterboxes the vector skin.
